Sometimes it is a little more involved to completely remove the ask toolbar. You may find that even though you followed the procedure outlined above, every time you do a search, with say FireFox, it still seem to go to Ask.com where as you may prefer another search engine such as Google. So what do you do?

Consider an Uninstaller Software

This may be where it is time to consider trying a useful utility program such as Perfect Uninstaller. Not only will this correct issues like left over programs and allow you to remove add-ons etc, but it also has the added benefit of being able to clean up registry values and / or dlls which may have been associated with programs that you thought you completely uninstalled (but, as it turns out did not quite do so!)

Why is it best to consider using such a program:

o Many programs, when installed, may change your system in some fashion or the other to improve that particular program's performance while not caring about your overall computer performance.

o Sometimes these programs have updates, but they update the main components without consideration of being able to uninstall the whole program. Which means that when an uninstall is done, these additional pieces may still be left 'hanging'.

o Some uninstallers without some sort of 'logging' module are not able to completely uninstall programs. Furthermore, it can cause risks to your PC.

o Add-ons, Spyware or more that are intentionally installed into your computer by bundling itself to a normal program without the related uninstall files.
